This port located at Cebu was found to have a lateral movements which constantly being experienced during usage (berthing/docking of vessels) and inclement weather condition at the existing pier structure. The structural assessment revealed that the existing pier, having nearly surpassed its service life, is now structurally unsound to handle the load and forces originally intendent for it. The deteriorated condition of the existing pier structure were observed from the structural defects (i.e. Concrete spalling on portions of the superstructures, corroded foundation steel pipe piles, etc.) it has sustained through the years of usage and exposure to harmful/injurious elements.

Due to its structural condition, this pier was subjected in strengthening and retrofitting using TYFO FIBRWRAP SYSTEM through application of TYFO SEH25A Glass Fiber and TYFO SCH41 Carbon Fiber at its superstructures (i.e. Beams, cross-bracing, pile caps, T-joist, etc.) and the steel pipe pile foundation.

EC Structural Composites, Inc. completed the retrofitting works in 201 working days.
