The project, carried out for one of the largest natural gas facility in the Philippines, is for its jetty which had been noted of heavy corrosion on the steel piles upon inspection.

Some of the existing and installed protection systems were already detached and corrossion was heavy.

EC Structural Composites, Inc. introduced the utilization of the Tyfo SCH-41 System (CARBON fiber) applied around the steel piles for corrosion protection and strengthening.  Steel pile surfaces were applied with a corrosion inhibitor and then wrapped with carbon fiber saturated with underwater epoxy Tyfo SW.

The system provided minimal disruption to the operation, hence, eliminating loss in income during the construction period. The result of the rehabilitation is a strengthened steel pile protected from corrosion.
