Structural Retrofitting Company
Classified as a national port, this structure is a major seaport that caters to sea vessel passengers and cargoes to and from Manila, Cebu and other major cities and nearby small islands. Constructed in the 1970s, the port structure has been dilapidated due to exposure to elements which affected its loading capacity. The objective of the project is to restore the stability of the structure and make it safe for continuous port operation.
EC Structural Composites, Inc. introduced the utilization of the Tyfo SEH-25A System (glass fiber) over the entire bottom slab and beams using Tyfo S above water epoxy resin and on piles using Tyfo SW below water epoxy resin. The structural members were wrapped with Glass Fiber after the surface cracks, spalled concrete and corroded re-bars were restored.
The implementation method of the System provided minimal disruption to the operation, hence, eliminating loss in income during the construction period. The result of the rehabilitation is a stable port structure with restored loading capacity and long term corrosion protection from sea water and other harmful elements.
