An Oil Refinery Pier which was constructed year 1960 (compromising of bent 1-59) and rehabilitated in 1980 (consisting of main pier and extension) is an open concrete structure, finger shaped and extending 439 meters in an east/west direction from an 85 meters long causeway. The pilling of steel pipes covered by concrete from the deck pier was just below the lower tide level.
The tubular piles in the superstructure of the pier were beset by an alarming degree of corrosion. The corrosion situation has worsened after the cathodic protection was inadvertent. Thus, this said piles were subjected in retrofitting to restore its original capacity. the main pier is divided into four (4) phases; Phase1 (bent 59-44), Phase 2(43-28), Phase 3(bent 27-16) and Phase 4 (bent 15-2)
EC Structural Composites, Inc. Team divers completed the rehabilitation and retrofitting of the piers in 540 working days.
