Eight Level Industrial Building

Structural Retrofit of Beams and Columns

The project is on an eight level milling area built in the 1960s.  Local building officials conducted an inspection and visible cracks and spalling of concrete were observed.  To avert building closure which could result in discontinued operations, the owners engaged a structural consultant to validate initial findings.

Initial proposals involved the use of conventional steel plate retrofitting but due to cost, time constraints and operations disruptions, the owner asked the consultant to find an acceptable solution.

EC Structural Composites was awarded and carried out the project using Fyfe’s Tyfo Fibrwrap System.  The repair and retrofitting works were completed in four months without any disruptions to the flour mill operations.
