Water Transmission Line

Concrete Pipe Rehabilitation

This water transmission pipe rehabilitation project is 2.9kilometers and is located in a very busy area in the heart of Metro Manila.  The 1525mm diameter reinforced concrete aqueduct was built in the 1940s.

Structural investigation showed that the pipes needed to be strengthened to combat age and to eliminate pipe leaks and illegal connections.

EC Structural Composites, Inc. (ECSCI) rehabilitated the concrete line employing Fyfe’s U.S. patented Tyfo Fibrwrap Pipe Rehabilitation System.  ECSCI applied the required Tyfo SCH-41 on the circumferential and longitudinal directions of the pipe to structurally retrofit the transmission line.  As final treatment, a potable water coating (Tyfo PWC) was applied on the entire length of the pipeline.

The actual rehabilitation works on this line was completed in Y2011 over a short period of four (4) months, despite the engineering and safety challenges that it presented due to its confined character and length.
