Structural Retrofitting Company
This is a private wharf with a 3 km x 12m marginal. The wharf caters to foreign cargo ships and vessels carrying grains and fertilizers.
Investigation revealed the occurrence of big gaps between vertical panels from under slab to seabed. There were spalling of concrete with exposed corroded re-bars. Primary objective of the project is to prevent the escape of soil by sealing the gaps between underwater panels.
The use of advanced composites to retrofit the Wharf Wall, particularly the Tyfo SCH-41 S-1 System is most ideal since it would have minimal impact on operations. Carbon Fibers were placed over the panel gaps which were sealed with underwater epoxy resin. Concrete blocks were also installed on the seabed to prevent scouring.
The implementation method of the System provided minimal disruption to the operation, hence, eliminating loss in income during the construction period. The result of the rehabilitation is a stable wharf wall from slab to seabed.
